I went to Once Upon a Child this morning for this crazy grab bag sale they have. You pay $15 for a bag of stuff, however much you can fit in there. I got two bags of stuff for Maria, Anthony, the baby, and some various other people's kids. I saved $121 they said and that was off the clearance prices so it was a great deal. I got this super cute Ralph Lauren skirt for Maria, two winter coats for next year, two jackets for Anthony, a sweet Gap Snowflake sweater for Maria for next year, all sorts of stuff. There are some crazy ass women that shop at the sale - they take everything and then sort through it and throw back at you what they don't want, and that stinks, but I just waited and got some stuff that I wanted. I'm glad it's only once or twice a year though!
She is doing very well. I want to crow about how well she is sleeping and napping, because God knows I complain about it when she's not. BUT I feel like I have to whisper it, I don't want to jinx anything. So I'll say this - I was up at 4:30 this morning but not for her, just because I was up. Then I went back to sleep and didn't wake up until 6:50 because NOBODY else was awake. Maria was the LAST person to wake up this morning. Then she took a 90 minute nap this morning. Shhh.
Thursday morning. She's been going to bed later (like 7:00) and getting up at the same damned time (like 5:00). Mike thinks she went back to sleep before he got her at 6:00 (he has been getting her so I can maybe get some rest and recover from this cold at some point) but who knows.
Whenever either of my kids are on the table, it makes me think of my Aunt Joan. Anthony LOVED lying on her kitchen table. Maria loves to be on the table or the island, she wants to be up on your level, but not held. She is a freaking lunatic - she was up at 5:00 this morning and screamed her HEAD off until just before 6:00 when Mike went to get her. Then she grumbled and groused in the bed with us - she only wants to lie down with you if she can lie her face right on your face. I have a cold again so I am not that into her lying on my nose and mouth. Mike took her downstairs and fed her, etc., then I took her up for a nap at 7:30and she woke up an hour later, and I just put her back down around 10:00 because she was freaking out. Now fifteen minutes later she's awake again but I am coldheartedly leaving her in her crib. Maybe until Mike gets home for lunch. :)
She can really get a mean stare going right? This girl is going to be in trouble if she doesn't shape up soon. She is in her nightie early here because I put her in the tub around 5:30 to see if that would stop her from SCREAMING IN MY EAR like she did all afternoon. Mike gave her some Tylenol and then we discussed whose idea made her better, mine (the bath) or his (the Ty). Who knows, this nightie is a gift from Anthony's teacher - I don't even know whose clothes they were but man it is the nicest thing - she keeps sending stuff and it's perfect. This is 18 months and it just zips right up which is nice because I don't often have a lot of time to mess with snaps and everything with Miss Maria.
She is some weird eater. I was having some crackers with dip and she was going crazy, pointing and grunting. I didn't think she'd like it but I fixed her a cracker and she went to TOWN. I discovered today that if I put her down for a nap and walk straight downstairs, without pausing to do anything, I can work out and get a shower in before she wakes up. I can't dry off or get dressed, but I can get a shower. So that's good right? Anthony is back in school today and so we're having a more normal day. Here's to a good week!
Her body is hysterical, look at that belly! She has a cold again or maybe is teething? Either way she's kind of unhappy. But she doesn't look it here and actually she was pretty good tonight, she's been eating fine which makes me think she can't be too sick.
Check out that hair! She's nuts today, woke up at 5:something and Mike got her a little after six. I put her back down for a nap before 8:00 but she only slept for about 40 minutes. She's going nuts now but we are trying to get her back onto some kind of a schedule so we're going to try to keep her up. It's warmer here but still too cold to go out anywhere. We were going to go to the mall playplace this morning but it's just too hard - it's awful to go out and have no idea what's going to happen to you, but to have a suspicion that it's bad. :)
Boy it feels like a slow news day around here or something right? Like nine pictures of a cupcake? Maria and I did go to the library today, too. She was good, she sat near me when I was looking through books (I went to get an autism therapy book that wasn't here so I looked for some others). She is getting heavy, though, so we checked out and drove around for 10 minutes or so until we went to get Anthony. I guess I could turn her around in her seat now but I am going to wait. She's not very complainy about it and she's just over 20 pounds so we'll wait. We did it early with Anthony but he HATED it. In fairness, we also probably spent more time in the car.
She seemed to like the cupcakes, which was nice for my ego, since she barely eats anything these days. I made chicken tonight and she did have a few pieces of that but I always forget how little they eat at this age.
