Playing, before her nap. After her nap we are going to attempt to take her to Mike's mom's for Thanksgiving. She has not done great in the car lately so we're worried - it bothers us, but not as much as it bothers Anthony, when she starts to cry. We are trying to get him used to it - sometimes she's just noisy!, we tell him, but he doesn't care, so far.
gave me this and two more outfits for Maria way back when she was born. They are size 18 months but they are SO soft and warm I put her in one today and just rolled up the sleeves and feet. Maria is sitting on the floor here, keeping busy while Mike and I made this cheesecake. Apparently, Maria hasn't seen the picture of the cheesecake because she has no appreciation for how delicious it will be, because she kind of bugged us the whole time we were making it!
I didn't post a picture of Anthony today because he looks so bad from his cold. Maria looks fine but I am sick of her today! She is the craziest girl ever. I can't remember if Anthony was this crazy but I think maybe not, which is terrifying. She NEVER sits still and she ALWAYS tries to crawl off the changing table when I am getting her dressed/changing her. Last night we put her tub in the big tub and I bathed her there and it was murder, she kept whipping and twisting around to see everything. She gets madder faster than Scarlett O'Hara, it's unbelievable. Today she went RIGHT DOWN the BASEMENT STAIRS - head FIRST! Anthony stealthily opened the door and brought his Goldfish down there and I guess she thought she wanted some? I was trying to wet a washcloth for poor Anthony's face and the water takes a YEAR to get hot in the kitchen so I was doing some dishes and then I heard her. I freaked out, of course, and ran to get her and she was fine, mad, but only a little. I picked her up to look at her eyes and everything but she was pushing and pushing to get out of my arms so that she could get to those damned Goldfish. She's crazy. Thank God she is so cute, I tell her all the time, I couldn't take it from an ugly child. :)
Maria had a pretty good night, Mike went into her at around 1:30 to give her some more Tylenol and then she slept until 6:15. She, of course, could have been up all night besides those times because that's the only time I turned on the monitor. But she seems pretty well rested, I just put her down at 9:00 for a nap. We are trying to get her on a schedule where she can go to bed a little later, we just got her all the way til 6:30 last night!
She is sick with a cold, too. I bought her two new nighties (which is what we call all of them, Julie, including Anthony's!) at Costco and they are super warm and fuzzy. She has slept really really really badly last night and today but I am (probably foolishly) hopeful that she'll do better tonight. Her appetite seems fine, so I'm hopeful it's not too bad. I know they both got sick from Anthony and I know he got sick from those kids at school! I don't get the impression that anyone (well, hardly anyone) in Anthony's class is following any rules about keeping your kids home if they are sick. :(
Maria had a good night last night, I assume. She had to go to sleep last night at like 5:50! I took her up to change her into her nightie and she was such a wreck I just decided to put her to bed. She cried at like 4:00 but I thought she was quiet and I went back to sleep. It turned out I had just turned the monitor down, ha! She cried again at 6:15, which is what time she's been getting up all week. It's earlier than I'd like but what can you do? I think I can only fairly expect her to sleep for 12 hours! Anyway, she is in good spirits. Ha, right as I typed that she started crying.
Sort of. My camera is driving me mad - it was so expensive and it just doesn't seem to work right anymore. The shutter speed is really slow and I just can't fix it. I am going to take it in sometime. When I have time. Ha ha.
She gets so, so filthy eating dinner, even with a bib, that we have to take her shirt off in the chair. She is eating really great here lately - green beans, cheese, chicken, crackers. Today I spied a second tooth and told Mike and he said he's seen it too, so I guess it's really there! Two teeth!
I had to get a new cable for my camcorder, I took this the other night. But may I say that ordering a cable from Sony.com is one of the most painless, best shopping experiences I've had in a long time? Yay Sony!
This outfit is from Anthony's teacher - she gave me two BIG bags of clothes and most of them are 18 months but this one is 12-18 months and looked like it would fit. It is so cozy and warm, and super cute. I'm glad it fits because I am always impatient to get myself or the kids in new clothes. It was really nice of Anthony's teacher, too, just out of nowhere one day she asked me what size she wore and then poof! she gave the bags of clothes to Mike.
Trying to steal Anthony's Goldfish. She took a 20 minute nap this morning and I finally went up because it occurred to me that maybe there was something wrong! I thought nobody would scream like that just because they were MAD, right? Wrong. So we went to Costco. She was very good at the store, as long as I kept up a steady stream of movement and Cheerio feeding. At least we got something done today.
All evidence to the contrary. :) She is so, so rotten at sleeping! I can't believe how I used to think maybe this next baby will be a better baby than Anthony, but I would think, this next baby could never sleep as *badly* as Anthony and guess what? She is MUCH WORSE THAN ANTHONY! It blows my mind. She slept for 45 minutes this morning and I put her down this afternoon at 1:00 and she was up by 1:40. I leave her up there for an hour, hoping in vain she'll go back to sleep but she never does. So she is super, super grumpy all day long. I'm hoping some teeth are going to bust out here soon and maybe that will explain it. Sheesh.
Because she is a pain in almost every other way. Last night she went to sleep at the usual time and then woke up crying like continuously between 11:30 and 3:30. I finally went in and fed her at 3:30 because by then Anthony was up howling away so I figured maybe she could get back to sleep that way. She went back to sleep (with some crying) until after 7:00but she kind of refuses to nap. She's eating well. I'm trying to think of nice things to say about her. Her hair remains cute and her eyes are a pretty shade of blue. But, as I told her this morning, she is not going to be able to count on her looks always, so she better start working on that personality! I don't have to take her with me to Anthony's therapy appointment today because Mike is home so that is a blessing. Maybe she'll nap this afternoon? I woke up at 3:30 with her but had fallen asleep before 9:30 so I had a hard time getting back to sleep until ... almost six? It would be SUCH a nice day to sleep, it's cold and rainy, but no one seems to see that but me. :)
Maria slept from 6:30 ish to 6:30 ish last night! She cried at 12:30 but I didn't go in and she quieted down after some amount of time. She is STILL kind of grumpy though, all photographic evidence to the contrary. :)
The last three nights Maria has slept 12 hours, waking up one time to nurse. This is still not ideal but we're getting there. She's still as pissy as ever though. She's in an old sleeper of Anthony's here, it's so soft and sweet.
Sitting on the island - she gets to a point in the day (usually around 9:30 a.m., ha ha) where she is just constantly whining unless she is being held - or maybe just at my height, because she seems fine if I sit her up on the island when I make dinner. I wish she wasn't so pissy but man. She is.
